Tales From The Mara - Premala de Mel took to creative writing when she was asked to create skits for her church. Her adaptation of the Cinderella story was put on the boards in 2000 and 2001 and was a great success. Premala studied at Ladies’ College, Colombo and was a member of the cast of a musical called “India Arise” which toured Europe. Premala has lived and worked in India, Switzerland and the UK and has been employed in both the private and public sector in Sri Lanka. Her love for travelling and her interest in environmental issues spurred her to write this fable. She presently works in a legal firm in Colombo.

The Art Of Writting Buddhist Stories - The Art of Writing Buddhist Stories by Dr. P. B. Ekanayaka is an inquiry into a popular aspect of Sinhala Buddhist culture. In fact, it embodies the results of research ione by the author during a period of ten months of sabbatical leave he spent at the school of Oriental and African Studies  of the University of London. This work has three chapters : 1 Historical Background of the Compilation of Buddhist Stories ; 2 Strategies in writing Buddhist stories in Sri Lanka ; and 3 Buddhist Stories and Maha parinibbanasutta.

Selectes Stories From The Dhammapada - Mr. K Samaranayake, who has previously compiled two books on Jataka stories most successfully, has now compiled another book containing stories selected from the Dhammapada commentary. The Dhammapada, regarded as an essence of the Buddhist canon (Tripitaka), comprises 423 stanzas and the Dhammapada stories are based on those stanzas. The twelve stories which have been selected by Mr. Samaranayake are most fascinating and most suitable for the modern readers, juvenile as well as adults. Stories from the Dhammapada commentary, written in the English language are rare and I consider this book, written in simple English and in a lucid style, as a much needed and a scholarly contribution to Buddhist literature in contemporary times. Brilliant artistic illustrations of certain incidents of the stories, enhance the value and attraction of the book. It is worth to be recommended as a text book for Government as well as Private schools and also for Pirivenas.
